SPEECH TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

MESSAGE FROM MARK SCHULMAN TO THE A/V TEAM

“I always prefer to set up and sound check the day before. I hire a local company to provide rental, cartage, and set up of a 5-piece drum set.

I travel with my own Pelican rack with wireless in-ears for my monitoring of my audio tracks with which I play. I also bring my own DPA wireless headset mic. I need no stage monitoring at all but do like to have a video confidence monitor and use a one page script I would like to add to the monitor which I can share via a text document.

I use Mac Keynote and will provide you with HDMI out for video (16:9) as well as supply you with two XLR outputs from my mixer- one mono XLR for my audio (the other side is click track for me) and a mono XLR for my wireless headset mic. I use my own Perfect Cue (I have two for potential frequency conflicts) to run the video/audio slides. I also use Sennheiser antenna extenders (for which I need two mic stands) – 200 feet maximum distance from my mic. I prefer the gear backstage and FOH is fine as long as it is within 200 feet of the stage, but please not on the stage or visible to the audience.

*The XLR outputs and HDMI both come from my rack and cannot be separated as my system is integrated.

Depending on the audience size, usually over 200, you can mic the drums if you like...at least a kick drum mic for fatness is good since I play with tracks. If you want to add more mics I suggest in order of priority: kick, toms, snare, and finally over heads. I’m more concerned with the drums sounding fat and blending with the music than volume! Also if you keep my headset live, you get plenty of cymbals! I DO NOT PROVIDE THE DRUM MICS.

While the tech loads in and sets up the drums, it takes me less than 15 minutes to get my electronics running and we can check quickly.”

INTRO, CUES & REQUIREMENTS

STAGE INTRODUCTION & SLIDES

Regarding Mark's set-up and Intro:.

He runs his own videos through keynote with perfect cue. No additional run of show or files you need to keep.

Cues and his stage intro:

*Mark utilizes a high-energy video introduction and therefore does not require a traditional introduction.

***Whomever is going to intro (OR VOG) Please use the following introduction:

“Our keynote speaker is a world-class drummer who is here to unlock the Rockstar Attitude. Snap as many photos as you like, but please refrain from recording any video of this Rock Show disguised as a keynote. LET’S...GET...READY...TO...ROCK!!!”

Mark will then hit play on his video intro (it's brief)

Then Mark will run out. (Depending on the set up he could run from behind stage to the front row or through the crowd via the back…he will assess this when he gets there.
